HP adds 'SimpleSave' devices in store


Bangalore: HP has unveiled the 'SimpleSave' external hard drive series for customers who rewuirre simple and automatic backup of their data. "With SimpleSave, once connected, backup is automatic and virtually hands-free," said Jason Zajac, Vice President and General Manager, Personal Systems Attach Group, HP. The drive comes in two categories, portable and desktop. The portable device is available in the 320GB and 500GB capacities, as the desktop is available in one and two terabyte capacities. The SimpleSave software automatically finds and backs up the data stored on the PC and automatically updates the backup with the file changes whenever the computer is idle. A single drive can be used to back up all the PCs in the home, with data from each PC clearly identified by name on the drive to make finding and restoring a specific PC's data a snap. The hard drives are designed with heat-dissipating cases that stay cool and run without a fan. It is powered by the PC's USB 2.0 port and does not require an external power supply. In addition, the 2.5-inch portable model has a shock-resistant case to protect the drive from the bumps and jolts of everyday usage. It supports the file formats like aac, bmp, doc, gdf, gif, jpg, mp3, mpeg, ppt, pdf, tax, tiff and xls. It has a frequent backup update which backs up new and changed files every time the PC is idle for five minutes. The drive comes with a two-year warranty. The SimpleSave portable 320GB hard drive comes for 5,510 as the 500GB drive comes for 7,450. The desktop solution of one terabyte comes for 7,500 as the two terabyte desktop comes for 15,700.
