Grapes unveils CG 888, mobile phone with QWERTY keypad


New Delhi: The brand owner of Grapes range of mobile phones, Unitron Exim, has unveiled its new model, Grapes CG 888. With a year's warranty, the phone would be available at an affordable price of 4999. This new model of Grapes is India's first QWERTY key pad phone, claims the company. The phone has two dual SIM options - CDMA + GSM or GSM + GSM. It means that besides a GSM SIM (900/1800 MHz) in one of the two available SIM slots, users have the option of inserting either a GSM SIM (900/1800 MHz) or CDMA SIM (800 MHz) in the second SIM slot. "The mobile phone market in the country is getting competitive by the day and as a brand you have to have certain distinct features and advantages over the competition to survive and succeed", said Bikash Agrawal, Director, Unitron Exim. The brand is targeted at the urban, tech-savvy college and office going youth between 16 and 35 years of age, he added. On its launching, Agrawal told that Grapes CG 888 will be launched in the metros and mini-metro cities initially along with all SEC A and B class towns. Though it is a Facebook ready phone, users can also have access to Yahoo and MSN for social networking and instant messaging. The phone has a bunch features like 2" QCIF screen with 65K colours, 1.3 MP camera, web camera, 1500 mAH battery for considerably longer talk time and standby time. The phone has external memory expandable up to 2GB. Apart from this, it has media player for MP3/MP4 and 3GP formats of audio and video content, FM radio, built-in speaker and universal audio jack (2.5 mm) for stereo earphones. The phone supports WAP and Java and has Bluetooth 1.2.
