Gadgets That Rocked 2010

Bangalore: The year 2010 witnessed the launch of several hi-profile technology products that changed the way we use our gadgets. While converged devices like tablets revolutionized the tech world, the smartphones continued to be a preferred choice of consumers. As another year goes by, we look back and track some of the top technology gadgets like tablets, netbooks and others that came and conquered the markets this year. TABLETS 1.iPad

The harbinger of the tablet era, Apple's iPad can truly be called the Gadget of the Year. Apple launched iPad in April 2010 and sold over 300,000 in the first day itself. It features a 9.7 inch multi touch display, powered by 1GHz Apple A4 system-on-a-chip processor. The iPad runs on the iOS 4.2.1 and supports Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 3G for connectivity. Although several makers tried launching an iPad killer, the iPad still remains on top of the charts. The only thing lacking in iPad is a camera, which will be completed with the iPad 2 releasing in the next year. 2.OlivePad

It boasts to be India's first tablet. Based on the Android platform, the OlivePad VT100 sports a 7 inch display screen. It supports 3.5G HSUPA, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. The device comes with a 3MP camera on the rear and also has a front camera. OlivePad has Flash support ? things that the iPad lacks. It can be used as a touch notebook for browsing, multimedia, IM, social networking, gaming console, e-book reader and TV. It also allows voice and video calling, which again is absent in iPad. Available at a price of 25,000, the Indian made tablet fairs pretty well in comparison to its counterparts.
