Dell's versatile tablet 'Streak' to hit markets this summer

Bangalore: The year 2010 has seen an array of tablets making their appearance in the market. After iPad from Apple and Adam from Notion Ink, now Dell presents 'Streak'. Earlier known as the Mini 5, the tablet will release in the UK early next month and U.S. in the summer. The Streak comes powered with the Android OS 1.6, which however will be upgraded to version 2.2 FroYo by year end. It has an ARM based processor, Snapdragon chipset, and 1GHz processor. Other features include built-in Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and 3G, 5 megapixel camera with dual LED flash. It also includes 2GB of internal storage and can be expanded to 32GB through a microSD. Additionally, there are integrated Google maps, a 5-inch screen with multi-touch WVGA display, social media apps like Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube. Compared with the iPad, the Streak is pretty smaller. However, by smartphones' standards it is quite large. Even the mighty HTC HD2 has a smaller screen of 4.3-inch. Another fascinating aspect of the Streak is that you can make and receive calls from it. The device will come packaged with cushions made of 100 percent compostable bamboo. The 32GB version is priced at $369, and will exclusively be offered through Carphone warehouse and O2 in the UK. Once out in the market, will the Streak sweep out iPad or bow down is the question to be asked now.
