Cheaper Toshiba Android Tablet! A Concern for iPad 2

Bangalore:  Toshiba Tablet AT100 which used to cost 28,950 will now be available for more or less 20,000 as Toshiba has stated a discount of about 10,000 on its original price. Apple is more worried now as Toshiba AT100 was launched to compete with its high priced iPad 2 which costs Rs. 34,900 to 54,500.

Toshiba AT100 is a thin Android Tablet having Android 3.2 Honeycomb OS and is supposed to be up-graded with the latest version of Android OS- Android 4.0 or Ice Cream Sandwich.  It has an Nvidia Tegra 2 system on chip having 1GHz, 1GB RAM and a 10.1-inch 1280x800 pixel display. It also contains an SD card reader, a mini USB and a full sized USB 2.0 port.

The device comes with a battery power of 11 hours, 16GB onboard storage, Bluetooth, 5 Megapixel camera, front facing 2 Megapixel camera and a full sized HDMI port. Toshiba has also included a unique feature called holographic to make the tablet more customized with five different home screens and a full access to the Android market.

During the launch of AT100, Jeff Barney from Toshiba America had said, "There is a market out there of folks who want to buy non-Apple products” and with this recent price cut Toshiba will definitely increase the size of this market.
