Can the 'Google Phone' Rip off Apple?

Bangalore: Way back in 2006 when Apple and Google were buddies and Google used to say that it has no interest in smartphones, there exist an original ‘Google Phone’ concept which never saw the outside world.

In 2007 Apple came up with the original iPhone with touch screen and Google broke Apple’s trust by releasing Android operating system. Since then Google is shouting that it never copied iPhone, but the difference between the original ‘Google Phone’ concept and the newly designed ‘Google Phone’ concept posted at CultofMac and TheVerge tells a different story.

By seeing both the concept you can realize why Apple is so angry about Google. The 2006 model looks more like a BlackBerry killer, but the new design is set to rip off the iPhone. The 2006 model is said to be clubbed with An ARMv9 processor of at least 200MHz, GSM (3G preferred), 64MB of RAM and ROM, miniSD external storage, a 2-megapixel camera with a dedicated shutter button, USB support, Bluetooth 1.2, and a QVGA display with at least 16-bit color support, reports Verge. From the new design you can expect all the new high-tech features which come in present generation smartphones.

According to Google the lack of Direct To Consumer (DTC) revenue was the main reason for its current shortfall in profit. Google has tried to fix this gap by selling Google Nexus directly to consumers through its Web store, but later this plan was changed as sales where low. Few days back when Google announced that it is going to sell Samsung Galaxy Nexus through Google Play, it seems like the company is giving one more shot in this direction.

The hopes are high that Google will make this concept phone come into life, and the whole market will be there to decide its fate. It might swindle Apple or may become a sad story by itself, but Google has all the rights to try.
