CM9 Port for Motorola DEFY to have ICS Upgrade

Bangalore: Motorola DEFY can experience the latest version of Android ‘the Ice Cream Sandwich’ with it’s newly build experimental port named CM9 (CyanogenMOD 9). This experimental port is available on the XDA Developer’s Forum and the ICS support is obtainable on the DEFY+ (Model number MB526) as well.

This up gradation will offer you a fully functioning touchscreen, audio, phone data, sensors, Wi-Fi and 2D/3D acceleration, Video Playback, GPS & A-GPS, and Sensors, but there will be problems with the camera, the buggy launcher, Charge Only Mode and Defy Parts Settings.

Apart from the camera and other small glitches the hardware components are in tune with this new port, therefore users can upgrade their Motorola DEFY to have ICS in their Smartphone’s. To install this port the users need to flash CM7.1 stable or nightly and then boot in recovery to flash the ICS build.

Even though some parts of the phone is not functional with this new port and there are some bugs to be fixed, but the promising part is that as the port is ready the chances of having a fully functional version is not that far.
