Blackberry Launches 1.39 Lakh Phone in India


Bangalore:  RIM launched a new phone called Blackberry Porsche globally which has been developed in association with Porsche Design. Blackberry Porsche P’9981 is placed in the market as a premium phone and is priced at 1,39,990.

RIM India MD Sunil Dutt said that the phone is all about power, style and aspiration. On being questioned if price the phone at such a high price was a wrong move as currently the overall sentiment at RIM is down, he replied that the market can still afford luxury products.

To keep up the exclusivity of the latest phone Blackberry will not sell it through the regular and traditional channels. As of now the customer will have to order their phones and slowly there will be selected outlets like Luxe watch and accessories showroom and other such high end luxury stores where you will find this tech-luxury.

Off late Blackberry-maker Research In Motion has been losing its “EDGE” to other smartphones. Once the pioneer of smartphones, they are facing a massive downfall in market shares and its customer base. RIM says that they will top the industry growth by this year end in India. They have been facing stiff competition from Samsung and Apple.

Features: The Blackberry P’9981 has been designed by Porsche Design and hence features the name Porsche. The phone has a stainless steel frame, with a hand-wrapped back cover, crystal clear touch display with a sculpted Qwerty keypad. To keep up with the tag of being an exclusive luxury phone, it comes with a PIN which easily identifies the user as holder of the phone.

The phone has a 1.2 GHz processor with a liquid graphic technology. It also has HD video recording, a resolution of 24-bit high resolution graphics, advanced sensors and a built in support for NFC (Near Field Communications) along with a whopping 8 GB on board memory and up to 40 GB of expandable memory with a microSD card.

The Blackberry Porsche P’ 9981 will be available only in select Blackberry Premium and Blackberry Exclusive stores in India.
