Apple iPhone finally will use Google's Voice app

Bangalore: Finally after a year long wait, Google's Voice application was accepted by Apple to use it as a free application on its iTunes App Store. Google Voice which is a web based service allows U.S. users to make inexpensive international calls, routs calls to a user's various phone numbers, and provides other advanced features, such as call forwarding and voice mail on the Apple iPhone. The new software for the iPhone lets owners of Apple's smartphone access their Google Voice accounts without having to open the browser and surf to the service's site. In June 2009 Google first submitted the software to Apple for Store approval, but Apple apparently rejected it as it was replacing some of iPhone's key mobile functionalities to make its place comfortable in the application store. But in a response to inquiries from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), which launched a short-lived preliminary investigation into Apple's App Store practices, Apple denied that it had formally rebuffed Google Voice. Apple is also accused of pulling off several Google Voice-related applications from the App Store that had been approved and posted to the online mart, often with little or no explanation, according to many developers. In September, Apple published review guidelines for App Store submissions, a first of its kind which relaxed restrictions on developers for using cross-platform compilers. Since then, several applications that rely on Google Voice have reappeared in the store. Google Voice application uses feature-rich weblication that enables you to view and manage your Google Voice data just like a native iPhone application. It released the an HTML5 Web app that ran inside the iPhone's browser for managing voice data .The Google Voice application can be downloaded from any App store.
