Android Apps are more Stable than iOS Apps

Bangalore: Apple devices are considered far more superior to Android devices for sure in terms of sales though.  A study done by mobile application monitoring company Crittercism reveals that iOS applications crash more often than Android applications.

The study states that more applications crash under iOS 5.0.1 about 28.64 percent!, point to be noted-this OS is pretty new therefore Apple can’t be blamed as app developers might be still fixing their app to make it compactable with the new iOS. But iOS 4.3.3 which has been there for a quite long time also caused 10.66 percent of mobile apps to crash and is a disgrace when compared to the fact that only 1.04 percent of Android 4.0.1 apps are porn to crash.

The whole analysis is done on percentage; therefore the study is fair even though iOS added three times the number of apps than Android. According to Forbes, there are a number of potential reasons for iOS applications to crash so much. It can be due to hardware issues, it could be due to the Internet connection, there could also be issues with language support on certain devices. There can also be memory problems if an app uses too much memory.

The study also highlights that Apple’s iAd system is also a potential problem as it gives “developers problems if they [do] not adhere to certain standards.” One more interesting fact is that there are numerous users who are still lingering around old iOS 4.3.3, iOS 4.2.1 and even iOS 4.0 and these people don't care to update apps periodically. Therefore even if an app has been fixed it continues to crash because it lacks updation.
