Android 5.0 Lollipop On Nokia 1100 Are You Kidding?

Nokia 1100BANGALORE: We thought it is impossible to bring the old phones back to contemporary tech world. But this will leave you in shock, the well-known handset from Nokia, 1100 is making news after 12 years of its launch. Today, the 1100 has become smart with quad-core processor under the skin, reports NDTV.

This was spotted by a Nokia Power User, the Nokia’s handset Geekbench browser benchmark concludes the mobile is running Android 5.0 Lollipop. It has a MediaTek  quad-core processor with a 512MB of RAM to support the Operating System. However, there are no more details of the handset apart from Android version, processor and memory.

The part which fascinates us is the original form factor of the Nokia 1100. The Finnish company seems to be in-development of a Smartphone with similar form factor and it may debut before last quarter of 2016. If Nokia is working on this project, they cannot use the brand name to the Smartphone until next 10 years or so, because it has its devices and services business acquired by Microsoft.

The Nokia 1100 was introduced in late 2003 and Nokia considers it as “the world’s most popular phone” which was owned by more than 250 million people worldwide. However, Nokia found a way around the limits inflicted by Microsoft deal and introduced the Nokia N1 tablet last year. Then the tablet became the ‘first Nokia-branded Android tablet’ as it was launched in China in first quarter of 2015.
