After Luxury Cars, iPhone To Be Made In India?




BANGALORE: Apple iPhone will soon have the badge of ‘Made in India’ as the Maharashtra state Government is trying to attract manufacturing companies like ‘Foxconn’ from China. Hence, there will a Smartphone manufacturing plant and it will the country’s first iPhone plant in the state, reports DNAIndia.

The Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis accompanied the Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his recent tour of China. Both the PM and CM of Maharashtra visited Foxconn's manufacturing facility in the Henan province. This produces the latest iPhone 6 and other Apple devices with the help of 300 employees.

Fadnavis said, “The state government was in talks to get the manufacturing facility set up in Maharashtra.” And added “Possible site for the plant, which would need a ‘huge investment’ could be either Pune or Aurangabad.”

The Chief Minister looking at the possible job opportunities once the plant is set up said, "Complete ecosystem with (even) suppliers and not just an assembly line, "pointing at more number of employment opportunity for people. With this advancement, country can gain on the export of the premium Smartphone which is a crowd attracter.
