A Glimpse of the 2016 Smartphone Market

BENGALURU: 2016 was a year of technological innovations in the smartphone market. While the leading brands made strong competition among themselves, the Chinese smartphone manufacturers marked their benchmark in the market with best-in-class technology with the lowest price tag.  Apple, Samsung and Google introduced their flagship products this year, where Google Pixel made the headlines.

Even though 2016 was not really a great year of success for Samsung Note series, the edge segments were in the limelight. While Apple introduced iPhone 7 variants, Google ditched its Nexus series. The competition went really strong but Samsung sales felled drastically as they had to recall about 2.3 Million Note 7s due to hardware issues.

Chinese brands such as Oppo, LeEco, Lenovo, Xiaomi, OnePlus, and Huawei are revolutionizing the smartphone market with their flagship models competing against the market leaders in price as well as performance. While considering the factors like graphics, internal memory and storage with price the Chinese devices are far better than the leading smartphones.

These Chinese smartphones are also no far from a branded device’s premium metallic finish, fingerprint sensors, camera and superior audio quality. While leading companies push smartphones with their brand value, the Chinese are offering almost similar features at the most affordable price without compromising the quality, struggling for a benchmark.

Even if you crave for the best and latest hardware, and premium built quality in a new smartphone, there are devices from a Chinese brand that fits the bill unless you are an Apple enthusiast.
