6 TV Predictions That Became A Reality

BANGALORE: Futuristic predictions are often laughed at. But when they turn out to be accurate, it is hard not to be impressed. If you are able to view films on the move, then you must remember that it was predicted 20 years ago. The only catch is that, they were imagined a bit differently than the way they look today.

Here are the predictions according to a book titled ‘Future Stuff’ published in 1989 by Malcolm Abrams and Harriet Bernstein which became a reality now-

1. Prediction in the 80s: SmarTV; Now: DVR and TiVo: With today’s TV, it is possible to record all your favorite shows and view them when you feel like it. SmarTVs can pause and rewind live TV. If you missed a crucial catch in a cricket match, you can relive the moment with rewind option. Devices like TiVo can record the shows without much prompting. All these features were predicted by Abrams and Bernstein back in the 80s.

SmarTV knows just what you like and will record up to 250 shows at a time. With SmarTV, it is easy to select the show that you want to see from the jukebox-like menu that comes up on the screen. The icing on the cake is that you can fast- forward past the advertisements at twenty-seven times the usual speed. You can also press stop and check the menu again.
