5 Myths about Quad-core Smartphones

Myth No.3: At the Same Time all Cores do it

The entire four cores has to function at the same time to make the device perform well, but to achieve this the operating system and the apps have to be ‘multithreaded’, which means assigning each processing core a part of a task. The mobile makers also have to include different software layers to make the hardware have a better communication with the software so that the full potential of four cores can be used.

In reality it is very difficult to make multithreaded games and apps, these codes are also very difficult to debug therefore app developers are not ready to take up this risk. Even though Nvidia claims that Tegra 3 processor makes use of multiple core even if the apps themselves are not threaded, but for a true better core performance the apps have to be threaded.
