#2 HTC Hero

HTC Hero emerged as the lone Android pioneer then. The Taiwanese manufacturer aimed at making a sale of 1 million units all together. This was the first release where HTC boasted of premium design and featured Sensor UI.

The Smartphone came with a 528 MHz Qualcomm processor, running on Android v1.5 Cupcake. There was 288 MB of RAM and MicroSD card support.

The device came with a display of 3.2 inches supporting 320 x 480 pixels. The back panel had a 5 megapixel rear camera and there was no front VGA.

Some features came in handy while others were not worth to mention.

#3 Motorola Droid

When Motorola Droid came in, it wanted to be among the top.

The device packed a 600 MHz Cortex A8 processor. It was the first Android Phone to run v2.0, the latest version at that time.  It had 256 MB of RAM and 512 MB of storage.

The Droid boasted of a 3.7 inch screen with an impressive 854 x 480 pixel resolution. It had a 5 megapixel rear camera. Verizon sold around 250,000 devices and it was considered as the top Android device in the U.S.
