10 petaflop Supercomputer to Rock Moscow State University

Bangalore: T-platform which has built systems in various fields of life sciences, nuclear physics, chemistry, mathematics, is all set to build 10-petflop supercomputer for M.V. Lomonosov Moscow State University. This initiative is just an improved version of 1.3 petaflop system. Russia is also in to building of Exascale computers.

T-platform which is a leading HPC maker in Russia already built The MSU Cebysev Supercomputer in the year 2008. The 1.3 petaflop system supports aerospace, nuclear, biomedical, oil and gas industries and was a massive hit. It will extend its boundary to other European countries as well. The 10- petaflop supercomputer is built with Intel and Nvidia chips and is expected to be introduced in the year 2013. Currently, the fastest super-fast computer on earth, Japan’s K computer, runs with 10.51 petaflop.

Exascale is a next generation super computing system for development of which the U.S. had allocated $126 million earlier. Russia decided to stay independent in the Exascale race while China and other European countries are said to be equal competitors to it.

Building an Exascale super computer is really a challenging task for the Europeans but they take it as a wonderful chance to prove their expertise. Bringing in Exascale system is 1000 times powerful and complex than the existing .Russia is preparing its own algorithm to reach the skies of Exascale race by the year 2020.
