#8 Google Desktop

2004 – 2011

Google desktop was handy software for PCs. The software provided users a central location to search for emails, music, photos, files on computer and web page history. There were handy widgets for useful information at a glance.
Desktop was used by millions of users for seven years. There were changes made as well.
Just as Google refocused on its resources, Desktop was discontinued in 2011.

#7 Songbird on Linux

2006-2010

This is an open source software, an alternative to iTunes, best known for its cross platform nature. It was increasingly popular among the Linux community. Then on one day in 2010, Songbird discontinued its support on Linux saying Windows and OS X was the next popular things.

This however disappointed loads of Linux users as it was one of the most popular software on the platform.
