10 Classiest Phones Ever Made By Nokia

Bangalore: Nokia, which dominated the mobile market for over a decade, is now facing a downfall with the rise in Apple and Samsung mobile users.  The loss has led company to sell their devices and services to the Software giant’s Microsoft. The deal is set to complete in the year 2014 for an expected amount of 7.2billion dollars.

Although Nokia will not be the same in years to come, one cannot forget the classic handsets released by this company, especially for India.

Let’s take a look at some of the best phones launched by Nokia over the past years, as compiled by Rediff

1) Nokia 1011

The model 1011 was Nokia’s first GSM phone released on November 10, 1992. The name 1011 referred to the date and month of release, 10 November. The model did not possess the familiar Nokia tune, as the company introduced the tone only in the year 1994.

Heavier than today’s slim phones, the handset weighed 495 grams and the display was a 2-line 8-character monochrome LCD screen. The phone offered memory to hold up to 99 contacts and a talk time of just 90 minutes. This handset could last for 12 hours in stand-by mode.

2) Nokia 8110

Nokia 8110 was released in 1996 and was the first slider mobile. The phone gained popularity after it was used in the movie Matrix, which increased the sales for the company.

The handset was the smallest and also the lightest during its time, making it a favorite among the masses. Nokia 8110 was called as the Banana Phone because of its design and the device had a better battery backup with a slim 400mAh Li-on battery.
