Auraslate Open Source Android Tablet to 'Hack n Code'


Bangalore: Auraslate has launched an open source Android Tablet for hackers and programmers to make them tinker around with their tablet’s platform. This development tablet is named LifePad Novice and comes in two models, 7-inch 726B and the 10-inch 1026 and is even compactable with Android 4.0-Ice Cream Snadwich.

Both the models sports; Gorilla Glass touchscreen display, an ARM Cortex A9 processor, 512MB of DDR2 Mobile Memory, 4 GB of storage , up to 32GB of micro SD storage, mini USB slot, front facing camera for photos and video chats, mini HDMI out, Bluetooth 2.1, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g and 3.5mm audio out slot.

This open tablet allows the user to use any version of Android OS and let them build their own Android-based ROMs and applications. Users can also get a hardware source disk for an extra $20, as the hardware is open source.

These tablets are specially meant for Android hardware projects where a group of developer and hackers are working on similar hardware and software. The 7 inch models costs $139 and the 10 inch model costs $250; there is no warranty or refund once you buy this device as you are going to do risky stuffs on this.
