Nokia Asha 311

Price: Rs. 6000 - Rs. 6500
Nokia is rigorously extending its Asha range, the company has introduced one more Asha phone dubbed as Asha 311. Like all other Asha phones this one also runs on Series 40 operating system and sports all the needed features to fight with the other entry-level smartphones in the market.

Design and Build: Asha 311 has well build metallic body which is sleek and weighs only 98 grams. Below that 3-inch screen there is a chrome strip which hosts two physical buttons. One the right hand side there is a volume rocker and a lock button.

When you look at the screen you will realize that it is much smaller to other Android smartphone in the market which comes in same price bracket. But the small size makes Asha 311 more compact and pocketable.

Asha 311 comes in three pleasing color combinations - grey, silver, blue and pink.

Processor and Interface: Nokia Asha 311 has a 1 GHz processor and comes with 128 MB of usable internal space. There is a microSD card slot to expand the memory up to 32 GB. The company is giving 2GB memory card along with the handset for free.

The Series 40 operating system is actually meant for features phones, but with Asha 311 the company has added some new features and twists which make the device give a smartphone like user experience.

The operating system has good applications and also comes with dropdown notification which lets you access essential functions like calling, texting, data connection and WiFi controls when you are on any screen.

The phone also features a new download manager and other new apps to manage data, calls, and SMSes. All these addition and up-gradation makes the OS more advanced and user friendly, but it still lacks the multitasking features of Smartphones.

Performance and Features : The presence of 1 GHz processor is the best thing in the phone as it makes the device much faster to keep up with the smartphone standards.

The Asha 311 comes with lot of paid and free contents to attract customer. The phone lets you access more than 45 lakh songs for free to share and download for first three months.

The company has also pre-installed the Angry Bird game and the device includes 40 games from EA (Electronic Arts) for free. The Nokia browser in the device is better and faster than its counterparts.

In terms of connectivity Asha 311 has Bluetooth 2.1, WiFi, 3G and USB. It also has proximity sensor, accelerometer, and ambient light sensors.

One interesting feature in the phone is the Maps which is famous for its navigational feature and it works without internet.

Conclusion: The phone acts well like a smartphone, even though it’s not one. User can access a lot of digital content like music and games with this phone. But it you are looking for the real smartphone experience with multitasking and access to app store and all, then this phone is not meant for you.

A great crossover! The Ovi store apps are the deal clincher
Pros:
1. Built
2. Apps on the Ovi store
3. Responsive touch
Cons:
1. Screen colors> on the small screen could have been better
2. Size: could have been just a little longer
Summary:
A good crossover product, doubtless. There's a large user base which is moving slowly from the feature phone world to smartphones. The full touch on the Asha 311 will be a win for them.

What makes me say wow, is the Ovi store apps which are supported on this device. For the 311, its as if I am buying a product, because it gives me more value with the added apps (services) it brings along.

Being biased, though I would recommend every NA 311 user to download hike from the Ovi store and get 100 free SMS every month free messaging for a lifetime with other hike users globally.
