The Good: The improvised Note 2 has buttery smooth performance, thanks to its Quad-core Exynos processor and increased RAM. The device has brilliant screen, an enormous battery and a much improved S Pen experience. When compared to the device’s predecessor – the Note I, the new device is thinner and easy to hold.

The Bad: The size and price doesn’t seem that friendly for most of the users. Even though the S Pen has improved it still remains complicated. The camera shutter is a bit slow and the plastic construction of the device might not look that attractive to many.
Now let’s have a detailed understanding about the Galaxy Note II specs and techs.

Build Quality and Design: In terms of build and design you will feels it’s the Galaxy S III Note editions than the Note II. The same rounded corners with the fake aluminum finish, the shinny plasticy body, same hardware and touch sensitive keys all these confirms the above fact. The features which makes us realize this is a Note II edition is its stylus and the pinch to zoom gesture on a display.

In all ways Note II is bigger, better and smarter that the original Note which Samsung launched a year back. The Note II is slightly thinner, marginally heavier and a bit curvier than its predecessor. On front bottom you will find hardware Home key and two touch sensitive keys for options and return. On top front there is a front camera, proximity sensor and light sensor.

The left side has a volume rocker, right side has power/stand-by key, the bottom has micro USB charging port and the top has the 3.5mm headphone jack. On the rear side you will find a 8 MP camera with LED flash and the mighty S-Pen sitting neatly in its bay near the bottom left curve.

Processor and Interface: The Samsung Galaxy S III was the first smart-device from the company to come up with the Qaud-core power. Now the company has also given this power-boost to the Note II with the Exynos 4412 Quad Core processor clocking at 1.6GHz paired with 2GB of RAM. This means Note II can do hell lot of multitasking with a butter smooth performance.

The device runs on the most advanced version of Google android operating system – the Android v4.1.1 Jelly Bean. The presence of this new platform itself brings lots of goodies to the device. Note II is one of the few devices which come with Android 4.1.1 onboard.

Features and Performance: The Note II sports a huge 5.5 inch Super AMOLED display having a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixel. The display is very much clear and crisp, but when compared to Galaxy S III the color vividness is lesser. The brightness of the screen is admirable, but sadly the screen is not that good for outdoor visibility.

In terms of connectivity the device is quite rich, the device supports the latest 4G networks, NFC technology and is also Wi-Fi and Bluetooth enabled. There one interesting connectivity features like S-Beam which lets you to tap your phone against other enabled devices to transfer files quickly.

When we talk about the media support the huge screen of this is a blessing as it is perfect for viewing videos. The variety of storage options in which the device is available and the microSD card slot to expand the memory up to 64GB is a happy news for all those who like to enjoy media content in their phones.

For video playing the Note II supports MP4, M4V, Xvid, DivX, AVI and 3GP. And for music it supports all popular formats and even FM radio.

The S-Pen: The S-Pen is more than just a stylus. The new S-Pen has gone through tremendous improvement and now you can write, draw and lots of complex tasks which much ease than ever before on any smart-device.

The Handwriting recognition has improved lot and the presence of the new TouchWiz UI makes everything more fun. One interesting improvement is the so-called Air View function for the S Pen which displays a dot on the device’s screen below the point where your stylus is hovering.

Camera: Galaxy Note II is bundled with two cameras – an 8 MP rear camera and a 1.9MP front camera. Both the cameras are best in quality and give the best possible snaps and videos you can expect from a high-end device. All the still images are sharp and detailed, but the videos clarity is just passable.

Battery: The Note II is capable of running for a long, long time. It works on a mighty 3,100mAh battery which gives standby time of about 890 hours on 3G.

The original Note was also a trend setter in the battery department and like its brother the new Note also keeps up the expectation by delivering the juice for a really long time.

The Verdict: Accept the fact that Samsung Galaxy Note II is a niche device and it serves the functionality of two devices – the smartphone and the tablet. All of us who are in the market to have a larger smartphone or a small tablet, there are no other better device than Note II.
The presence of the latest Android OS – Jelly Bean, the superfast quad-core processor, the doubled up battery, the wonderful camera and the improved S Pen makes everything more perfect in Note II when compared to the original Note.

The huge price tag and the kind-off complicated S Pen might come as hindering factors, but this device is worth investing your bucks in all terms.
