Top 5 Sensex Cos Add 15,270 Cr in Market Valuation


NEW DELHI: Sensex companies together added 15,270 crore in market capitalisation last week, with Coal India and SBI emerging as the biggest gainers.

While CIL, HDFC Bank, SBI, ICICI Bank and HDFC saw rise in their market cap, TCS, RIL, ONGC, ITC and Infosys witnessed fall in their valuations for the week ended April 25.

The market capitalization (m-cap) of CIL surged 5,779 crore ( 57.79 billion) to 1,89,522 crore ( 1,895.22 billion), while SBI added 4,879 crore ( 48.79 billion) to 1,55,522 crore ( 1,555.22 billion).

Mortgage lender HDFC saw its market worth rise by 1,919 crore (RS. 19.19 billion) to 1,39,253 crore ( 1,392.53 billion), while HDFC Bank's value moved up by 1,848 crore ( 18.48 billion) to 1,74,231 crore ( 1,742.31 billion).

Similarly, the value of ICICI Bank jumped by 845 crore ( 8.45 billion) to 1,46,592 crore ( 1,465.92 billion).

On the other hand, RIL's m-cap fell by 3,668 crore ( 36.68 billion) to 3,06,215 crore ( 3,062.15 billion), while TCS lost 2,978 crore ( 29.78 billion) to 4,31,360 crore ( 4,313.6 billion).

The valuation of ITC declined by 2,429 crore ( 24.29 billion) to 2,73,271 crore ( 2,732.71 billion), while Infosys' m-cap came down by 899 crore ( 8.99 billion) to 1,82,276 crore ( 1,822.76 billion) and ONGC lost 770 crore ( 7.7 billion) to 2,74,930 crore ( 2,749.3 billion).

In terms of ranking, TCS continued to enjoy the numero uno position followed by RIL, ONGC, ITC, CIL, Infosys, HDFC Bank, SBI, ICICI Bank and HDFC.

The BSE benchmark 30-scrip Sensex lost 76.76 points to 22,688.07 over the last week.
