Time limit for online I-T returns filing extended

New Delhi: In some good news for people filing their income tax returns online, Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) extended the time limit for submitting ITR-V (Income Tax Return Verification Acknowledgement) form to the department up to March 31. Even if a person files his return online (without digital signature) till March 31, he will get another 120 days time for submitting the print of ITR-V form, reports Times News Network. While filing IT return online without digital signature, one needs to submit the print of ITR-V form. So far, the ITR-V form duly signed and verified by the tax payer needed to be submitted within 30 days of the filing of the return. The form is sent through ordinary post to the department's main computer centre in Bangalore. The department, on receipt of the ITR-V form, sends back its acknowledgement to the tax payer. It is advised that the tax payer may send another duly signed ITR-V by speed post. As many tax payers have not received the acknowledgement, the department decided to extend the date for sending the ITR-V form.
