Mumbai: A benchmark index for Indian equities markets fell below the 18,000-mark in opening trade. Broader markets were trading lacklustre too.
The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) which opened at 17,976.36 points, was ruling at 17,943.74 points, down 68.23 points or 0.38 percent from its previous close at 18,011.97 points.
The 50-scrip S&P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange was also trading in the red at 5,378.9 points, down 0.28 percent.
Broader markets too were ruling weak with the BSE midcap index 0.21 percent down and the BSE smallcap index trading flat.
