Sensex closes 101 points up
Mumbai: A benchmark index for Indian equities Thursday ended 101 points higher than its previous close, coming down from its intra-day highs. The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 17,476.48 points, closed at 17,573.99 points, 101.43 points or 0.58 percent higher than its previous close at 17,472.56 points. The chart showing the one year performance of Sensex is on the left. Reversing its early morning losses, the Sensex rose to 17,778.34 points during the day. At the National Stock Exchange (NSE), the broader 50-share S&P CNX Nifty ended at 5,269.35 points, a gain of 0.47 percent from its previous close at 5,244.9 points. Broader market indices ended flat. Energy, auto and banking scrips saw buying, while realty and metal stocks came under selling pressure.
