Sensex Surges 128 Points; Healthcare Stocks Gain


MUMBAI: A benchmark index of Indian equities markets, the 30-scrip Sensitive Index (Sensex), Wednesday was trading 128.37 points or 0.44 percent up in the early session.

The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was also trading 39.80 points or 0.45 percent up at 8,801.90 points.

The Sensex of the S&P Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 29,115.32 points, was trading at 29,133.03 points (at 9.15 a.m.) in the early session, up 128.37 points or 0.44 percent from the previous day's close at 29,004.66 points.

The Sensex has touched a high of 29,155.41 points and a low of 29,115.32 points in the trade so far.

All the sectors were trading in green. The rally was led by healthcare, auto and banking sectors.

The S&P healthcare index gained by 99.24 points, auto index moved up by 84.58 points and bankex inched up by 63.91 points.
