Sensex, Nifty Close Lower After Wide Fluctuations


MUMBAI: On a day of wide fluctuations, a benchmark index for Indian equities, the 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange, closed 155.11 points, or 0.56 percent, down on Thursday.

The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) also provisionally closed 31.40 points or 0.37 percent down at 8,398.30 points.

The Sensex, which opened at 27,977.27 points, closed at 27,735.02 points (as per provisional figures made available at 3.43 p.m.), down 155.11 points, or 0.56 percent, over the previous day’s close at 27,890.13 points.

With the session on Thursday marked by wide fluctuations, the Sensex touched a high of 28,087.78 points and a low of 27,621.18 points in the intra-day trade.
