Sensex Gains 259 Points in Afternoon Trade


MUMBAI: A benchmark index of Indian equities markets, the 30-scrip BSE Sensitive Index (Sensex), was on Thursday trading 259.40 points or 1.07 percent up during the afternoon session.

The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was also trading 89.40 points or 1.21 percent up at 7,451.20 points.

The Sensex of the S&P Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 24,386.45 points, was trading at 24,482.72 points (at 01.05 p.m.) in the afternoon session, up 259.40 points or 1.07 percent from the previous day's close at 24,223.32 points.

The Sensex touched a high of 24,514.01 points and a low of 24,279.21 points in the trade so far.
