Rupee loses 12 Paise against dollar in early trade

Mumbai: The Indian rupee lost 12 paise to 49.19 per U.S. dollar in early trade on the Interbank Foreign Exchange on Wednesday, amid a lower opening in the domestic stock market and the dollar gaining ground against the euro overseas. The rupee had gained 38 paise to close at 49.07/08 against the U.S. currency in yesterday’s trade on dollar-selling by banks and exporters amid a sharp rise in the domestic equity market. Meanwhile, the Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark Sensex was down by 16.40 points, or 0.10 per cent, at 16,507.63 in opening trade today.
