Bangalore: The rupee rose by 5 paise to 52.50 against the American currency at the Interbank Foreign Exchange (Forex) market in early trade on Friday as the American currency fell against Asian rivals.
Besides, a higher opening in the equity market on buying by funds further supported the rupee, dealers said.
The rupee had ended flat at Rs 52.55/56 against the dollar in yesterday’s trade after alternative bouts of selling and buying of the American currency.
Meanwhile, the BSE benchmark Sensex rose by 105.15 points, or 0.61 per cent, to 17,235.82 points in early trade today.
