NCR Launches New Mobile Banking Platform

Mumbai: The U.S.-based ATM vendor NCR Corporation today launched a new mobile banking platform called NCR Aptra, which enables banks to offer services via downloadable apps, mobile browsers or SMSes. The NCR Aptra provides all the features consumers need to manage their money on the move and enables banks to scale and integrate mobile with other online, kiosks, ATMs and teller banking channels, helping to drive adoption of mobile banking and deliver new services across integrated channels, the company said in a release issued here. "Smart phone growth and financial inclusion are driving mobile banking adoption on a global scale," NCR Corporation India Managing Director Jaivinder Gill said. The solution gives financial institutions a simple and fast way to set up a range of mobile banking services, such as account balances checks, transaction history, money transfer between accounts, bills payment among others. According to a TNS research, mobile banking usage rates have doubled since 2010 in many countries, while an ABI Research predicts that 400 million consumers are expected to be using mobile banking by 2014. "Our new mobile banking solution gives banks a flexible and secure way to meet the immediate mobile banking needs of their customers. It also provides a platform that will scale with the explosion of device choice, mobile bandwidth growth and migration from SMSes, to apps and next generation of mobile browsers using html5," Gill said.
