Market turns volatile, Nifty tumbles 1.64 pc

Mumbai: The domestic bourses could not hold the initial sharp recovery and tumbled whimsically with across the board sell-off taking the benchmark S&P CNX Nifty down by 95 points at the National Stock Exchange (NSE). The 50-share index swung widely between 5,897.90 and 5,722.25 before concluding the trade at 5,729.10, a net fall of 95.45 points, or 1.64 per cent, over its previous close. Sidelining global volatility, market rebounded sharply, after seeing a sharp sell-off on Friday due to poor Infosys earning and guidance forecast amidst higher inflationary data, taking the key index to the day's high, few points away from 5,900. The market suddenly turned extremely volatile with sustained selling in Technology, Financials, Oil&Gas, Infra stocks erasing the entire initial gains to end in deep red.
