Jaiprakash Associates shares up by 7 percent


Bangalore: Jaiprakash Associates stock was among top gainers after its price went up by 7 percent. After opening the day at 90.50, the stock touched its 52 week high of 162.85, before closing the trade at 91.70, with a gain of 7.09 percent. Through the day, 4302743 shares of Jaiprakash Associates were traded in the market with a PE ration of 18.85. Jaiprakash Associates is a diversified infrastructural industrial conglomerate in India. It is engaged in the business of heavy civil engineering construction, power, cement, hospitality, real estate, and expressways. In hospitality sector it owns and operates four five star hotels, two in New Delhi and one each in Agra and Mussoorie with a total capacity of 644 rooms. In real estate sector it has 452 acres, which includes residences, commercial spaces, corporate park, entertainment and nature in abundance. It has 165 kilometers long six lane Yamuna Expressway project from Noida to Agra for commercial, industrial, institutional, residential and amusement purposes, and 1047 kilometers long eight lane Ganga Expressway from Greater Noida to Ballia (Eastern Uttar Pradesh). The company has posted a net profit of 2,326.60 million for the quarter ended Dec. 31, 2010 as compared to 1,030.20 million for the quarter ended Dec. 31, 2009, rise of 2.25 times. Out of 28 analysts following the stock, 16 are recommending buying the stock. The consensus recommendation is outperform.
