How To Get Health Insurance For A Newborn


BANGALORE: There are various new practices designed to ensure the health of children that many parents rush to put in place.  Storing the stem cells from the blood of the umbilical cord as a safety measure against disease in the future is one of the happening trends seen in this space. However, parents often forget the basics which is ‘getting a health insurance plan’ for the  new comer in the  family. Health insurance helps to cover medical expenses, and although some providers may not issue an individual policy to a new borns, it is possible to include the baby to a pre-existing group cover or family floater policy.

Generally, insurance providers include the new borns in the parents’ existing plan on completion of 90 days after its birth. There are also some plans s under the maternity benefit of group health policies that cover medical cost including pre-natal care and vaccination.

Conditions

If you opt for coverage from the beginning, the insurance provider must be informed within a week of birth. The insurance plans may offer the maximum coverage for children under a particular policy.  In case the parents have purchased a policy helps meet the expenses when   the baby is 90 days old, the remaining coverage can be added to the policy during the annual renewal.
