Bangalore: NRIs (Non-resident Indians) need not look further than India when it comes to the best property deals this season, reports Sakina Babwani of the ET Bureau.

With fall in the value of the rupee, India has emerged as the hot new real estate favourite among NRIs. Shveta Jain, Director of Residential Services at Cushman & Wakefield, says, "NRIs have always been interested in investing in India as they are familiar with the location and realty has traditionally yielded good returns in the short to medium term."

When it comes to real estate, NRIs can be classified into 2 categories. First – pure investors who look for good returns on their investment. Second – purchasers who wish to provide an ideal abode for their loved ones. Anand Narayan, Director of Residential Services at Knight Frank, says, "NRIs look at their property in India as a second home, a place they may want to come back to when they retire."
