Hindustan Zinc Joins 1-Lakh Crore M-Cap Club; Stock Hits Record High


NEW DELHI: Hindustan Zinc’s market valuation today crossed record 1 lakh crore mark today, helped by a sharp rally in its stock price.

The market capitalisation (m-cap) of the Vedanta Group firm rose to 1,07,640 crore.

The stock jumped 9.22 pct to settle at 254.75 on BSE. During the day, it zoomed 12.66 pct to 262.80 – its 52-week high.

At NSE, shares of the company surged 9 pct to end at 254.45.

On the volume front, 6.48 lakh shares of the company were traded on BSE and over 70 lakh shares changed hands at NSE during the day.

The stock has gained in seven of eight trading sessions, surging nearly 16 pct. So far this year, the stock has gained nearly 74 pct.

TCS is the most valued Indian company with a market capitalisation of 4,75,227.81 crore, followed by RIL (3,53,628.14 crore), HDFC Bank (3,27,584.87 crore), ITC (2,92,947.29 crore) and Infosys (2,38,388.40 crore).

There are at least 25 companies with over 1 lakh crore market valuation.

In the broader market, the Sensex today jumped over 377 points — its biggest single-day gain in about a month — to end at 28,243.29.
