1. Dorothy Hamill

In 1976 Olympics, Dorothy Hamill won gold medal in figure skating. Years later, “Ice Capades” signed her at $1 million per year contract. She headlined the Ice Capades from 1977 to 1984 and in the early 90s the company went bankrupt, Hamill parternered with Ben C. Tinsdale and bought the company in 1993. She told Steve Wulf of Sports Illustrated, “It was breaking my heart to think there would be no more Ice Capades. It wasn't just that I once skated for the company, it was also the thought of all those skaters out of work.” But this love of her for the company was not reciprocated and in 1995, she got bankrupt and sold the Ice Capades to International Family Entertainment.
