Beware Of Calls From Fake IRDA Employees: Insurance Regulator


CHENNAI: The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (IRDA) warned general public not to fall prey to phone calls purported to be made by its employees.

In a public notice on its website, IRDA said its officials dealing with grievance redressal do not call any complainant.

The insurance regulatory also said that it does not sell any insurance policies or offer bonus on policies.

The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (IRDA) have warned the public to watch out for unscrupulous calls selling insurance policies by claiming to be the regulator’s representatives.

The regulator also cautioned the public not to fall prey to callers who claim to be IRDA employees and asking them to submit an account payee cheque in the company's name, PAN details and other details if they want to stop the transfer of policy amount to somebody.
