BSE Sensex closes up 0.3 percent
Mumbai: A benchmark index for Indian equities closed 0.3 percent higher on Tuesday, supported by gains in world equities, with auto stocks leading the rise. The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 17,998.74 points, closed at 18,020.05 points, 57.56 points or 0.32 percent up from its previous close at 18,020.05 points. The chart showing the 52 week performance of Sensex is on the left. At the National Stock Exchange (NSE), the broader 50-share S&P CNX Nifty ended at 5,430.60 points, up 0.2 percent from its previous close at 5,418.60 points. Broader markets indices were also in a slump, with the BSE midcap index 0.16 percent up and the BSE small cap index flat. Capital goods and realty scrips came under selling pressure while auto and IT scrips were on the rise.
