4 Indian Women Fund Managers Who Handle Finance Worth Billions


Bangalore: Though women have been making their strong presence felt in the corporate sector, yet there are some fields which still lack women players. India has around 52 mutual funds, and another 51 life and non-life insurance companies and both the sectors are dominated by men.

However, among this male bastioned sector, four women fund mangers have set new trends and are successfully handling finance worth thousands of crores. Read on to know these women, listed by Economic Times.

1. Swati Kulkarni, 48

Present: Executive Vice- President and Fund Manager, UTI Mutual Fund

Past: UTI lifer

Funds managed: 6, 500 crore

When Swati started her career, women were considered as an exception in the in the mutual fund industry. She hardly had any women colleagues at her first job with Reliance Industries.

Swati has handled many funds starting from 50 crore to 6, 500 crore. According to her, her family’s strong support has helped her lot to stay on the course.

Debuting as a fund manager in 1998 with UTI CRTS Fund, Kulkarni managed India Funds in 2001, moved to equity management in 2003, and is managing various UTI funds since 2004.
