26 Lakh Bank Accounts Opened Under Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojna In Chhattisgarh


RAIPUR: Nearly four months after the launch of Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojna (PMJDY), bank accounts of about 26 lakh families have been opened under the scheme so far in Chhattisgarh.

According to an official statement issued here today, bank accounts of 25,94,515 households have been opened in 40 public and private sector banks ever since the mega financial inclusion scheme was launched in August-end.

State Bank of IndiaBSE -0.20 per cent (SBI), the nodal agency for implementing the nodal agency for implementing the scheme, had taken the lead by opening 7.60 lakh accounts in the state followed by Chhattisgarh Gramin Vikas Bank (7,34,923), it said.

The scheme envisages universal access to banking facilities with at least one basic account for every household with focus on financial literacy, access to credit, insurance and pension facility.

In addition, the beneficiaries get RuPay debit card having inbuilt accident insurance cover of Rs 1 lakh.
