Oracle (NASDAQ: ORCL) based at Redwood Shores, California, U.S. does work in
developing database management systems (DBMS). It provides software tools for
database development, enterprise resource planning software (ERP), customer
relationship management software (CRM) and supply chain management (SCM) software.
Oracle was founded in 1977, and has offices in more than 145 countries around
the world. As of 2007, the $17.996 billion company employs more than 74,674 people worldwide.
It went public in 1986 with revenues of $55 million. Lawrence J. Ellison (Larry Ellison) serves as Oracle's CEO.
The largest research and development center for Oracle outside the U.S.,
is the Oracle India Development Center (IDC) located in Bangalore and Hyderabad
which carries out cutting edge development work, across the entire Oracle product
family for the global market. Oracle has been operating in India for more than 19 years,
