Brocade's R&D hub in Bangalore

Brocade, a US based software company, and one of the leading providers of networked storage solution has opened a world class research and development facility here.

The Bangalore based R&D center has the latest state-of-the-art infrastructure and according to Mike Klayko, Brocade, chief executive officer, the new centre at Bangalore will make a significant milestone in the global growth of Brocade.

"The Establishment of Brocade R&D center in Bangalore reflects our global footprint as we meet the challenges of the rapidly growing volumes of data", he said.

The company already has R&D centers in various parts of North America, and in Israel and China, according to a company release.

Outlining the reason for setting up a center in Bangalore, Zahid Hussain, Brocade Vice president of Engineering said, "In Bangalore we are able to find outstanding engineering talent with the right level of experience and expertise".

Through years India has lived upto its reputation of being a region of excellent opportunity and it represents tremendous growth for storage networking.

According to Gartner, an information and technology research firm, India witnessed the second-highest revenue growth in the Asia-pacific region with 22.5 per cent.

Brocade is not new to India and it enjoys relationships with the National Informatics Centre and with companies like Wipro and HCL.

S. Muralikrishnan, vice president, Wipro Technologies said, "Setting up an R&D Center will help Wipro work more closely with Brocade to develop next-generation storage products".

Brocade opens research centre in Bangalore

Bangalore, Aug. 1 (PTI): US-based networked storage solutions firm Brocade today announced opening of a research and development facility here, which would act as a hub for development of advanced technologies for data centre networking and data management solutions.

The NASDAQ-listed company said the centre would expand the company's presence in India and accelerate development of enhancements to its data centre networking and management solutions for global markets.

"Together with developers at existing Brocade centres located throughout North America, Israel and China, the team here will drive development of new technology solutions designed to enable companies to connect and manage data more efficiently and reliably," Brocade Vice-President (Engineering) Zahid Hussain told reporters here.

According to Gartner, in 2006, external disk storage grew 38 percent to 202 petabytes in the Asia/Pacific region (excluding Japan). And India saw the second-highest revenue growth for the region with 22.5 percent.
