Closing India's Innovation Gap: Reigniting the Spark of Creativity in a Consumption Economy.
A lot of innovation occurs at the interface with the customer. But when you look at the make-up of India's economy, with so much proliferation of consumer electronics, there seems to be less contact between our engineers and end users. Economies thrive by developing new products and processes that the world demands. Can we foresee an India where the products that we make will create wealth. India's electronic hardware imports could be $400 billion, perhaps surpassing the Oil import bill! Despite increasing local electronics consumption, the pace of innovation in semiconductor/ embedded design is lackluster. Is India losing at the innovation game. It's our time to step up. What can we as an industry do to drive a healthier environment that allows innovation to prosper?
