No I do not support reservations in the educational instituitions.Because If you say run 200 meters in just one hour and you will be given the first prize. The person will practice in accord to that only.Which is decreasing the standard. In the present case the person who is provided with reservation is getting the similar favour. In accord to that he will prepare and he will enjoy the rest of time.Instead giving favours in the form of marks and performance give the backword people the enough money to get through the educational system. And then collect from him.Let the backword cast people get reservations in the rates of interest and the amount of money that can be provided.

what does our constitution say all should be treated equally so WHY RESERVATIONS.
dont u think this step is dividing further and creating a feeling of hostility.

Goverments responsibility is to give primary and secondary education to all so that they strengthen the base of minorities.Reserving seats for them wont help. Many students belonging to general category cannot afford good education so what abt them.
what i dont understand is the question should be whether someone is able to afford education or not so he should be given some priviledge irrespective of the cast/Category
but here what is happening is being a minority whether rich or poor u r getting priviledge.is it fair
Admission to premier institutes is highly competitive and a large number of students are left out because they have been born in a general category . they work very very hard today because of cut throat competion so that would lead to mental depression of those deserving students.
politicians use reservations for their political gains and create divisions between the communities. But they are not aware that what it feels to be left out inspite of being good academicaly but bcoz of limited seats.
And also with time these premier institutes would degrade as the students would not be admitted based on their merit but on their castes.

No, I think it should not be allowed. Though there should be some discount in fee on poverty basis but as far as reservation on the basis of caste is concerned, it will be fatal to the reputation and breed of students in good institutions like IITs.
There are already very less seats in good institutions and reservations in these will make merit students starve.
And one more important point I want to convey here that those who aspire for these institution are already in the position to afford the fee and lifestyles needed. So why reservation??

Actually the motto behind the reservation is sacred...we believe in equality and inclusive growth so how could we leave behind our brothers and sisters who infact are talented enough but lacking in resources and guidance to move in the proper direction. with this holy cause it started many years back in the times of pandit Nehru(though i dont consider him a pandit). Initially it was decided that it would continue for 10 years until the upliftment of those brothers and sisters happen completely. But what happened afterwards is ofcourse a different story and completely uncalled for. the people who were in no need of reservation enjoyed the cream which was to be delivered to the needy...and that process continued...poors became poorer and rich became richer...i wont say reservation dint bring any changes at all ofcourse many of the needy did get waht they deserved and raised their life standard, but they continued to enjoy the priviledges which were no longer theirs. And this issues still is the biggest problem with reservation but this is the implementation specific problem, reservation strategically is also absurd, as many of my friends already stated that it is limiting the performance standards. the proper way should be raising their standard instead of lowering the standards of the esteemed institutions. i believe our govt already spends a lot on the govt primary and secondary schools, but the quality they deliver is extremely poor, there we need to strenthen our hold because there we shape the child. All required facilities should be provided to the students coming to govt schools and specifically this should be done in the rural areas. And the entrance to such facilities should be encome specific enough of caste and creeds. Privatisation od govt schools is one of the alternatives, which should be subjected to review on result basis and Last but not the least the officers handling these schools should be given a proper moral training first.....just like Martin Luther King Jr once dreamt...i also have a dream
today that one day little children of our country will live in a nation where irrespective of any criterion they will be equal and lead towards prosperity holding each other's hands and i have a dream tody that i live long enough to see that day.......

Why hate reservations?
only because.....
1-we have no confidence in ourself
2-we are spending more money
3-We want more than 1 seat to do our course
4-we want degrees from all IITs and IIMs
5-we are unable to fight
6-there are so many reasons bt we have to belive that we need only 1 seat and 1 college so dont worry n do our level best.

Guys leave abt hte affordibilty issue of the students who make it.. its clearly mentioned that once a student clears fees is not a contrain for any1. Even IIMS says thisvery explicitly in their prospectus
where does the question of reservations come .. when will our govt strt behaving in a mature manner . Why do OBC ans ST/ SC students accept there reforms .. dont you all have the guts and chanllege to make it the way otheres do .What financial problem is there in filling a form of costs harldy few hundreds or thousand.
Let govt make some financial reforms rather than taking reservation issues. Its jus nonsense and hurts for students who struggle so hard to get into scuh prestigious institutions

guys......what i see as the benefits of reservation are:
1 The bifarcation of the society.........
2 Filling the vote bank of Govrment.........
3 Degradtion on the level of education quality''''
4 big industry leaders have just commended it.........

I feel we all should just oppose it and do all possible help to the people working in disfavoring it.

I doubt the very objective of the congress led government in the central as their main objective was to make India a more secular country. Don’t they think by introducing the caste based reservation system, they are making fissures in the young minds of India. Once these methods of reservation are introduced it will become difficult to remove this from our society. because, Again the removal of this reservation will face a similar
Disturbing violence in the country. Don’t the congress feel they are defeating there objective by the name of reservation.

when Mr. Manmohan Singh is talking about free trade area, a Level Playing Ground for both Domestic and Internal players why cant we have a Level playing ground in the education sector. I wonder how the same government is playing contradictory roles. I thing the government should define its objectives very clearly.

I agree with what Montyistic said as we should put more efforts to improve the Primary, and secondary since they forms the fundamental education. The government must give free education to the poor people, they should be trained separately, more efforts have to be laid on them and they should be tested with all others.

Not at all. There is no reservations in IITs. Then only IITs stands for MERIT. Otherwise there is no difference between ordinary colleges and IITs

Hi friends i think today we can see that our country is not fully developed so we should not remove reservation completely because much of the good and brillient student requires it. Reservation should be based on the criteria of the economic position of the perticular not on the basis of the casts because in one cast one cant determine that all are economically disable to fulfill the requirements of the student.

I think reservation based on caste has no necessity in present situation.
Now a days, even backward people r having good living n there no question of untouchability or what ever.......
so in my view instead of providing place on the basis of caste .....fee reduction can be given to students belonging to poor families..which becomes a great help to them .
