Well the topic seems to be very interesting and has provoked a gud response...
In my opinion....first of all preeti....i m sorry to say but i think u are being too personal with the topic...i completely agree that the girl faces a lot of trauma after her life has been ruined...but does that mean that person should be killed...i think that rigorous life imprisonment is a better solution...i beileve everybody must be given an opportunity to make up his mistake....there is a possibility that the person committing that henious crime might have suffered frm some kind of mental stress then he shld be sent to a rehabilitation centre......
I would also like to draw ur kind attention to the infamous case between preeti jain and madhur bhandarkar, in which the former accused the latter to sexually harass which was proved to be faulty. The famous director of Page3 was acquitted.In case of capital punishment he would have been no more with us. i think if the capital punishment is not abolished girls like preeti jain would try to misuse it....which is not fair.
There are lot many reasons for rapes....who knows the victim herself might have played an important role like the recent incident which took place in Mumbai where a South African model had drinks with two strangers-----> who told here to do so???? Wasnt she responsible for giving a safe path to the rapists.????

I will also like to say a few words to faisal....Saudi Arabia follows the simple principle "AN EYE FOR AN EYE, A TOOTH FOR A TOOTH" which is not fair. Take the case of Mukhataramai of Pakistan....She became a victim of one such law and she was gangraped in her own village only because her brother had a relation with a high class girl. Such type of system is not suitable as far as a democracy like India is concerned.

My reply is precisely to CINTHIA. She has asked “It is my question to all men, what will u do if ur own sister or own daughter gets physically tortured by any nonsense pervert? Will u prefer to send that pervert to jail or will u expect to implement capital punishment for that person?” But mam why only men? Women too have sister and daughter.
discussion was about wat is right? instead of wat an individual ll do in that situation?
One more thing this discussion was about capital punishment not rape.

ok so u tell me wht kind of punishment is capital punishment??
Does it include only death penalty or it has some broader aspects....

Common how can u give a chance to a rapist after he has ruined a
girl's career , her life,her ambitions. O.k true what u said abt Preeti Jain case but bcoz of a few improper minds u can't criticize the whole system.
2morrow any fellow will rape or murder and ask for a second chance and what guarantee that he will not do the same thing again.

I think what ashutosh has said is perfectly correct. I also started to feel we were kind of going away from the topic. Atleast what i feel capital punishment is not talked about only when we discuss crime against women(That could be of any sort). Capital punishment can also be given to people who have committed murders etc.

If the intentions of the rapist become pure and he repents for his misdeeds and wants to make up for it does that mean he will not be given any chance?????

hi preeti , i beg to differ from you in this because i think no individual has the rite to take any human's life.... yes even if he has commited the most heinous crime i think capital punishment shoud be banned and instead we should give life imprisonment to those people.. i think capital punishment is also a very easy punishment for those people because the pain just lasts for seconds whereas life imprisonment kills the person everyday and he has to repent whole of his life for that.....what do u say?

preeti i think you are being too emotional... yes a girl has to go thru tremendous mental turmoil but i really dont find a correlation between a gals mental stress and the mans capital punishment.. after a person is indicted anyways he will be given life imprisonment..so i think that will bring satisfaction to the gal that the person who raped her is behind bars and is suffering each and every day.....

capital punishment shd not be abolish in india .
i believe it shd be made more stict .for eg. rapist, he has no right to live .by doing such heinous crime shd be hanged.infact capital punishment is less painful punishment .the pain ,the suffering which a girl will face is more that the type of punishment which he gets.
also why it shd be abolish. when he was committing the crime has he spare that victim.then why we shd we spare him

infact it the fear of capital punishment which make them aware of the fact that breaking the law is not so simple.

well my frnd had given a valid point over here.But just seeing towards one side of coin will not going to work.What about child rape? if an adult is commiting such an act, still you think that he should be given life imprisionment.A child been raped,the childhood got totally tarnished by this immoral activity.The pain ,trauma and humiliation in society she faces cannot be cured in any of the rehabitional centers. Rather in more than 70% of such child cases the kid dies due to severe injuries.so i dnt think so that after commiting such a henious crime the perpetrator shud be given life imprisonment.

As u both have given valid points and i agree with both of you.But according to me for such a henious crime a person should be give death in front of public as what happens still in SAUDI ARABIA.Due to this reason people are afraid of performing such crimes over their.

i completely agree with u but my point of view is different bcz being a girl i can very well understand what will a girl feel after she is being raped.
life imprisonment give her the feeling that the person who has raped her is stiill alive,she will suffer mentally but if he is given death sentence then to some extend her mental health get stable.

also if life sentence is given to such person then every day he shd be tortured physically in the same way the victim is mentally suffering.
but i know that such thing cannot be happen so the only way is to give that culprit a capital punishment.

Sweet_indian i do support ur point to some extent.
But listen i m not against or with capitol punishment, i just wanted to say is if a murderer or a rapist or be connected to any other crime gets a second chance without any punishment then thr would be many such cases whr people would demand for a second chance even if they don't feel any guilty abt the crime they did.
I do think that life imprisonement is a better option compared to Capitol Punishment
