Work Experience Before MBA-How Much is Needed?
By silicon india

Bangalore: Scoring good marks in GMAT or performing well in written exams and personal interviews are not the only criteria for getting admission in a top B-school. Most of the good business schools prefer applicants who have an average of 3-4 years work experience in the corporate firms. This number will surely increase with time. The question is, is work experience really necessary for getting admission in a reputed B-school?
If a student has gone through the practical business world, he/she will have a better understanding of the basics of business. They won’t find it hard to understand the material they are studying. These students can do well in group discussions as they are more familiar with the trends and working conditions in the real world. The sessions can be made interesting by taking examples from their own business lives. For other students, this will prove to be really helpful.
A business school with people sharing unique experiences from their practical corporate life- is the reason behind preferring experienced candidates. It is not just the number of years of work experience that matters, the quality of experience also plays a major role. Getting admission in a good business school is not the only goal of work experience; it is also about succeeding in the world of business once you are done with the studies.
An experienced person will find it easy to clear competitive exams like MAT and CAT. Some business schools give more preference to a person having good work experience than a person having good scores in MAT exam. If you wish to get admission in a top B school, then it is always better to gain some professional work experience beforehand, which might prove a great asset.

There are companies like Pepsico, ITC, Coca Cola, etc... who work in FMCG sector which are related to Food products hire agrimanagement people in departments like procurement, contract farming etc... apart from this NGO's also work in agrimanagement. Thus, the scope of Agri-management is not limited TO NGO's bt also to the corporates, MNC's.....
The average package is 3.5 to 4l p/a and it can go upto 6-7 lakh, bt it all depends on the performance of the student. And KIIT has a record of 100% placement frm the last 3 yrs since its inception.
Admissions are now open for two-year MBA (Agribusiness Management) programme from 2012-13 academic section along with its flagship (Rural Management).
