AICTE approved 2 new engineering colleges in Gujarat
The AICTE had given its approval for two new engineering colleges in Gujarat. The two colleges are self-financed ones and they will be situated in Junagadh and Panchmahal.

The two self-financed colleges will have the capacity to enroll 300 students each. Officials from ACPC said that there are three more colleges with pending approval and they are likely to get clearance soon. These three colleges which are pending approval are situated in Banaskantha, Rajkot and Vadodara district.

Apart from the new colleges, there was also an increase in the intake capacity in the existing college this year. Gujarat has 45 colleges, the intake capacity of the seats had an increase of 2,500 seats altogether.

There are 44,219 engineering seats in Gujarat, there was an increase of over 6000 seats than last year. In the 17 government engineering colleges present, there was no increase in any intake. The capacity in these colleges remained unchanged at 10,735 seats.

Earlier, the AICTE had approved Gujarat to get eight new engineering colleges. This was the first phase of approval. In the first phase, AICTE had approved 2,340 seats in these eight colleges which will be situated in Khedbrahama of Sabarkantha district, Surat, Paladi village of Vadodara, Daheli of Amreli, Rajkot, Patan and Amod in Bharuch.
