Born in a rich Parsee family of Bombay, Homi Jehangir Bhabha, was destined to carve a niche for himself in the field of nuclear science. Unlike several of his colleagues, he chose not to settle down in the West. Instead, he returned to India and brought with him, what is now called 'Big Science'.
In Independent India, Bhabha, with the support of Jawaharlal Nehru, laid the foundation of a scientific establishment and was responsible for the creation of two premier institutions – the Tata Institute of Research and the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre.
Scientist, painter, musician and visionary, this is the inspiring story of India's greatest scientific manager, one who believed in the ability of Indian scientists to do cutting edge research within the country. He also believed that India's industrial progress needed nuclear power and pioneered its research at a time when it was still a new field in the West.
